TEA TREE MIRACLES

If you've followed my blog for a while now you might remember me talking about the Body Shop Tea Tree Blemish Fade Lotion here, and how much I had fallen in love with it. So I returned to The Body Shop not long ago in order to try some more bits from their range, and came home with the Skin Clearing Facial Wash and the Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser.

My face is my worst enemy at the moment with the weather and my diet changing especially since I've moved out (pizza is the answer to all life problems) so I thought it was a good time to give the Foaming Cleanser a go. It's said to reduce excess oil and minimize breakouts and it has done exactly that, I only  use this 3 times a week as I worry it might dry me out if used daily but so far so good.

Onto the Facial Wash, I hope I'm not alone when I say I regularly become victim to those tiny pesky little unnecessary pimples on the top of my back and I tried everything from a shower loofah to an exfoliating scrub but nothing has worked quite as well as this, I know its meant for facial use but it works so well on my back they haven't returned for about 2 weeks - win!

Have you tried any similar products to the Tea Tree range?

HIGH STREET VS. HIGH END

Admittedly, I've never been one of those people always wanting to try the most raved about products. But whilst I managed not to get caught up in the Benefit They're Real hype, I got slightly attached to my trusty Max Factor 2000 Calorie and my Sephora mascara. However, after receiving this Clinique mascara* curiosity got the better of me and I decided to set aside my high street mascaras and hope for amazing results.

The product itself is great, I've used it with a different mascara wand and it worked perfectly but teamed with the little plastic bristles from Clinique it doesn't do anything for my lashes. I'll most probably keep it as a back up and maybe try it again in a few months time but for now it's going back in my stash.

What are your opinions on high street vs high end?

LOSING MY TARTE VIRGINITY

Thanks to Estee` I have been craving Tarte products for several months now, and as far as I'm aware it isn't available in the UK which sucks. As mentioned in a previous post, my dad went to the US a while back and as any other blogger would do I sent him off with a list of things I wanted to try. The Tarte Smooth Operator finishing powder being one of them and boy I was not disappointed. P.s look away now if you fear unclean make up brushes... (not sorry)

The Smooth Operator powder is a loose, translucent powder used to improve the longevity of make up and add a matte finish. At first I applied only a little with my Real Techniques Powder brush, as I was aiming for a more glowy finish rather than matte but after adding a little more it provides the perfect coverage without looking cakey. This might sound weird, but after reading that "90% of women saw an immediate improvement in skin texture" I applied a full face of make up, finished off with the powder and stroked my face, (cringe) and it felt incredible!! My skin felt smooth and silky as if I had just washed off an intense night mask. If anything can keep my make up on through a hot and sweaty shift at work it's this bad boy. I've never been so impressed with a powder, and I'm interested to see how long it lasts before I need to repurchase.

Have you tried any Tarte products before?

A BIT OF MAGIQUE

This may sound strange to some but one thing I am thankful for is my super high cheek bones (cheers Dad). I've tried highlighting powders, creams, highlighter sticks and even concealer to accentuate them. For day to day use I was using my good ol' Collection lasting perfection concealer in the lightest shade, on the tops of my cheekbones and under my eyes - until I saw one of my friends using the Loreal Lumi Magique highlighting pen in Light. Well, I went straight to Boots and the rest is history..

If you're going for a subtle, yet noticeable, dewy look then you're gonna need to go get this. It's super creamy consistency lasts around 3 hours on its own or when set with a powder I find it lasts around 4/4.5 hours. My current favourite is the Tarte Smooth Operator loose powder. Make sure you follow me here for a full review on Friday!

The only downside is that there is no way of seeing how much product you have left. I like to know how much I have used in what length of time before I have to repurchase and just before I bought this, my friend say to me "you twist and twist until one day you twist and there's no more left.." Hmm.. Also to dispense the product you twist the bottom cap if you're not careful a lot comes out at once with no way of getting it back in the tube..

With that said, I really want to try the No.7 Instant Radiance Highlighter or/and Topshop's infamous Glow stick for a more evening appropriate look, have you tried either of these before?

H&M WORKWEAR

Some of you may be know my full time job is soon to be changing, which as a beauty/fashion blogger leaves me very excited for a new work wardrobe as I get to bin my tatty uniform. I popped into H&M with my mum a couple of days back and was scouring the work wear section and was not disappointed. They have a huge range of patterned and plain slacks perfect to dress up or down depending on preference. I picked up a few tops and 3 pairs of trousers to start me off, and went for designs and colours that I could easily mix and match.

Are there any places you recommend for low price, good quality work wear?

CLINIQUE MOISTURIZING LOTION +

Apologies for no post on Wednesday, I was defeated by a 10 hour shift at work then celebrating my boyfriends birthday (see Instagram for food porn). Anyway! - I've been eyeing up the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion +* for so long but struggled to find it in my local suppliers that I was close to giving up. So when my Dad recently got back from America and presented me with this I was over the moon.

I've only used this a handful of times but its already doing my skin huge favours. My skin changes seasonally and although my T-zone has been pretty oily recently the rest of my face is starting to feel the dryness of Autumn. This Clinique moisturizer is super lightweight and only takes a tiny amount to cover my entire face. It sinks into my skin within seconds, none of that waiting about before you can put your make up on malarkey. Unfortunately this Clinique moisturizer* smells a little bit odd when you first dispense it but thankfully the scent doesn't transfer on the face so I can't really complain. I can definitely see it being included in my October favourites, so keep an eye out!

What are your favourite moisturizers for the colder months?

NEW BLOG!

If you're a regular around these ends you'll see that we have had a slight face lift.. At 8 months old I was totally fed up of my amateur attempt at making my blog look good and quite honestly I really struggled getting it going so I just accepted "it would do". Until I came across the amazing pipdig website thanks to Helen from thelovecatsinc via Twitter when she told me to try their templates and its safe to say I wasn't disappointed. Their customer service is impeccable and when I asked for help they even offered to do all the work for me when I was at work! Onwards and upwards from here, I vow to love and care for my little space of internet more forever and ever.

With this comes a little life organisation, I've been offered a better position at work, I will be getting myself a car again (yay!) and I'm looking for tonnes more blogs to follow. Leave yours and your faves in the comments and I'll check them all out  - promise.

MAINTAINING BLOG MOTIVATION

Things can get a little cray sometimes juggling a full time job and trying to maintain a blog that I'm proud of. If you find yourself in a bit of a motivation rut sometimes, try following these tips, they work for me and hopefully you get some use out of them too.

  • Don't be afraid to ask. A lot of bloggers love to help out, from asking for advice to inquiring about what equipment each other use, 90% of us just want to see the blogger community do well.
  • A good quality notebook/diary. It only needs to be big enough to fit in your most used bag, but I find most of my post ideas come to me when I'm nowhere near my laptop. Thanks to my job I always have a bag full of pens so I just jot down any thoughts, inspiration or when I've scheduled posts for. My current notebook is this lined, navy one* from Paperchase.
  • iPhone pictures aren't a crime. Sometimes I find myself eating somewhere amazing, throwing together a great outfit or most of the time just being forgetful and having to rely on my iPhone for pictures. But this doesn't mean you shouldn't include these pictures in a post, I'm looking into investing in a good quality smaller camera. If you have any suggestions tweet me @charlotterumsby.
  • Take any opportunity. If you see a chance for a guest post, take it. If the smallest company want to work with you, do it. If you get a freebie in a magazine, review it. Simple.
  • Keep an eye on social media: Most of my favourite bloggers I've found through social media like Twitter and Instagram. Commenting on tweets and pictures doesn't go un-noticed, its fun and you're getting yourself out there without having to write a blog post!
  • Stay happy: If blogging becomes too stressful, a chore or if you don't find you enjoy it as much, take some time out and focus on more important things. For most of us blogging is a non-profitable hobby and your own life will always come first.

SWEATER WEATHER TAG

I'm currently at my dads house "dog-sitting" in front of the fire with a huge selection of films calling my name, and I thought what better time than to attempt the "Sweater Weather Tag"?  Enjoy!

1. Favourite candle scent?
Hands down the Cinnamon Yankee Candle, I'm guilty of burning this bad boy all year round
but it definitely beats any other when it comes to Autumn/Winter.

2.Coffee, tea or hot chocolate?
I try and stay loyal to peppermint tea for calorific reasons but I do seem to end up consuming at least 3 hazelnut lattes a week in the colder months.

3. Whats the best fall memory you have?
Travelling around Europe via train with my best friend in September and October last year. Every time its a cold, crisp day it takes me straight back to the leafy parks in Berlin.

4. Which make up trend do you prefer, winged eyeliner or dark lips?
Dark lips, Revlon Black Cherry for sure.

5. What are you doing for Halloween?
Having a house party at my place, we're yet to decide on a theme but let me know if you have any ideas or tips in the comments.

6. Hats or scarves?
Scarves definitely, my head is too big.

7. Most worn jumper?
I'm not really a jumper person, simply because I've never found one I really love. However I've been getting tonnes of use out of this H&M cardigan, its slightly oversized and is great for snuggling on the sofa. At £7.99 how could you say no?

8. Favourite fall nail polish?
Barry M Lychee without a doubt, I did a full review of it here.

9. Skinny jeans or leggings?
Skinny jeans all day err-day.

10. Boots or uggs?
Boots! I love that there are so many different styles and materials available and I'm a huge sucker for an ankle boot... Especially one with a cut out design *drool*.

I'm always looking for new blogs to follow so be sure to link yours in the comments!
